Lots of you have been posting about some of the lovely items in the shops at the moment as alternatives for CK. I don't really see what the big deal is with CK, it's nice stuff but I'm not fussed if I buy something cheap - as long as it looks nice and I like it, I'm happy! :-) One such shop is Tescos - they have some wonderful things in there. I've been after a cheap, pretty, everyday dinner set for a while now, but they all seem to be too wacky or modern for my taste. So I was thrilled to bits when I found this hand painted set in Tesco.
Isn't it cute? :-) I was also lucky enough to get this eiderdown on ebay for a mere £30 including delivery. It's not your usual pink paisley but I like the ones that are a bit brighter and different - you know me, I ALWAYS (just to be annoying sometimes!) have to break from the norm! The other thing I did today was buy some gorgeously rich and vibrant gloss paint colours to paint those picture frames. I'm also thinking of painting the fireplace in one of them. I had another brain wave that I could paint an ornate french clock in bright bright pink or green. I've seen it done with other items like cuckoo clocks and it looks fab.

These pics don't really do the colours justice - they are sooo bright but I love them! :-)

Your eiderdown is lovely, one of the best i've seen and I love the dinner set. Our Tescos never get any of these fab things in.
Take care

I do agree - as much as I like CK it is very expensive and now you can get cheaper alternatives which is always good. It also means you have spare pennies to buy more!
I'm with you, CK is lovely but it is really expensive and there are some really pretty alternatives out there. After all it is just a name tag.
I bought some fabric a few weeks back from are town market and it's just like CK but half the price.
Love your dinner service and your eiderdown is fantastic.

Lovely colours and great buys!
I love the spotty dotty china, very Bridgewater but without the huge price tag! Our every day china is the cheapest plain white that you can get from Sainsburys and Tesco and a couple of pieces like that would liven it right up :)
I'm really looking forward to seeing your painted frames and clock, I think they'll be brilliant!

Yes, I agree with you all ,CK is far too expensive for what you get for the money, but they do some nice stuff. I have found Dunelm do some nice prints for about half the cost. It's a pity they don't do more online. We haven't got a tesco in our town - (not yet). I've tried looking online at Tesco for those cheaper quilts with the nice designs but haven't found any yet. Looking forward to seeing your "new developments".
im the same..i like ck stuff but im not to fussed on paying her prices so would rather have somthing that is similar for a 3rd of the price!!
i love that dinner service i wanted it a while back but just bought one from ikea so the hubs wasnt getting his wallet out!!!
Tesco's definitely has some great things at the mo!
I've been finding allsorts of CK alternatives for more thrifty price tags lately.

I LOVE the dinner set ... and the eiderdown looks so snuggly...
I love those paint colors! And that eiderdown looks lovely.
Hello! thanks for your message about the swap...very exciting I've never done one before..what date do we send out?
Yum love that eiderdown, I think you and I have very similar tastes and opinions. ;)
I like CK and was at the shop launch yesterday - got a voucher so shall be going back to spend that, but the rest of the time I buy things I love and can afford, be it charity shop 5p finds of a random supermarket item or something online, if I like it can can afford it it's coming home with me.
I like your new china.
Our everyday china is a set (of about 6 pieces) that we got from a charity shop, it is just plain old Johnson Bros and blue, but I love it. I begrudge shelling out more than £3 for a plate!
And I should really check my typing before I hit send.
CK is gorgeous, but every time I look there, I have to be careful as its so much on a student budget! Sadly, the local supermarket isn't big enough to have homeware sections, although maybe its a good thing else I'd spend a fortune!
Where's the cuckoo clock from, its fab!

Hiya Sian, thanks for the comment on the bag :) any help with the CV would be great, thankyou.
I really like your new eiderdown, very pretty. The teaset is great, they had a similar one in Asda a while back. Looking forward to seeing the frames all painted up xx
I must go and have a look at our nearest Teso Extra, to see if I can find all these floral pretties & china people keep talking about! Someone also mentioned that Dunelm Mill have some nice fabrics at the moment? Love the eiderdown too - it looks in really good condition.
BTW, have you heard from Melmel? I was concerned that her blog had been removed. I hope everything's ok?
Willow x,
Thanks so much for the tip about Tesco Direct & Quidco, I remember you mentioning it on a previous post - I really must look into it!
Yes, I've emailed Mel too, but as yet no reply, but I may not have an up-to-date email contact. Anyway, hopefully someone will hear from her soon - I miss the photos of her lovely home!
