Knitting

Last night at about 11.30 I decided to take up knitting. I used to be able to knit really well when I was about 5 but I had just completely forgotten how to do it. I bought some knitting needles and a whole load of wool from Lidl a while ago but realised that I had forgotten how to cast on so they haven't seen the light of day for over a year! I was going to get a 'knitting for dummies' type book but I find it virtually impossible to learn how to do things through reading and looking at pictures. I find it much easier to have someone show me or to watch a video. So, at 11.30 last night I had a brain wave and I found this fabulous video.

I'm not really sure what 'm knitting just yet. Maybe a scarf for a dwarf?

Good for you. It will quickly become a pleasure, hard to put down.

The Stitch n Bitch book is an excellent resource for new knitters.

Good Luck

Looks like you're doing ok.... well done. You can find loads of free patterns on the net, a scarf is a good way to start. I have a pattern for some very easy hand warmers.
I saw this wool at lidl but was unsure, now I've seen it knitted up it looks good. I think they have it again.... may pop over today :)

This looks GOOD! Might want to be a scarf, no?
Knitting is like riding a bike, once learned you soon get into it again even after years, that’s what is so cool about muscle memory. There are great “how to”-videos at knittinghelp, too.

I wish I could knit I haven't got a clue going to get my mother in law to teach Emily when she's a bit older so that we can learn together.

I agree about not being able to learn knitting from a book - they try but the pictures and diagrams are just confusing. Thank goodness for the internet! And all of those lovely knitters who are kind enough to post instructional videos.

I'm sure you'll soon be knitting like a pro - and you have a very lovely blog, I'm glad I found it!
